Military police at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport arrested an Albanian national last weekend after his suitcase burst open at the baggage handling department, scattering euro notes to the wind.

The 30-year-old was picked up on Sunday after police were alerted by airport staff. He could not explain where the cash, thought to be at least €50,000 had come from, and has been charged with money laundering, police said on social media.

The man was remanded in custody on Wednesday while the investigation continues. An unknown amount of money was blown away by the wind, police said.
