Contaminated eels to be banned from sale

Junior agriculture and fisheries minister Henk Bleker wants to ban fishing for eels in rivers polluted with dioxin.


Eels caught in polluted waters have high levels of the cancer-causing dioxin but until now catching and selling them has not been banned, says the Volkskrant.
A majority of MPs has already demanded a ban.
