Solar car Nuna in third place so far

Nuna5, the sola power-driven car designed by students at Delft University, is lying in third place after the first day of the World Solar Challenge in Australia.

The Delft team has won the race from Darwin to Adelaide for the past four years and is considered hot favourite to take this year’s title.
But trouble with the solar panel shortly after the start forced Nuna5 to stop three times. Strong winds and mini-tornados also slowed down progress, Nos tv reported. Nuna5 was also badly damaged in testing before the event started, which may also hurt its chances.
The second Dutch team, from Twente University and Saxion hbo college, is in fourth place.
