Streaming service Netflix is putting up its subscription prices for the first time in four years.

The standard subscription will go up €3 a month to €13.99, and the premium will go up by €2. The basic deal, which allows one person to watch the service, will remain €7.99, so that ‘everyone can continue to enjoy our services,’ Netflix said.

The company says it will alert its 2.2 million subscribers in the Netherlands to the new prices 30 days ahead of the increase coming into effect.

Neflix launched in the Netherlands in 2013 and has been joined by a number of competitors since then.

Next year, HBO will launch its HBO Max streaming service in the Netherlands, while Swedish Viaplay will start with sports events, including Formula 1 and England’s Premier League football.
