Police have stepped up security outside a house in Assen that has been hit by two explosions in a week.

The third blast was at around midnight on Saturday to Sunday, at the back of the house on Entingestraat, on the northern edge of the Drenthe capital. Nobody was injured.

The first explosion was outside the front of the house in the early hours of Tuesday, two days after another incident the previous weekend in Klaverstraat, on the eastern side of the town.

Police have placed cameras on poles outside both addresses and are investigating if the explosions are linked. They have appealed for witnesses or anyone with camera footage from the area to contact them on the non-emergency number 0900 8844.
