Visitors have already stepped on the infamous peanut butter floor, less than a week after it opened in Rotterdam.

The Depot of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen said that at least one person had walked on the exhibit, and another had dropped their phone into the peanut butter while attempting to take a photo.

In honour of Dutch conceptual artist Wim T. Schippers, who passed away in June, the museum brought back his most famous work, the peanut butter floor.

Schippers was known for his silly and absurdist artworks, as well as voicing the character of Ernie on the Dutch version of Sesame Street.

This version of the Pindakaasvloer involved spreading 390 kilos of Calvé peanut butter over a 25-square-metre hexagon. The work will be displayed for the next two months.

The artwork has been disturbed during its previous installations. In 2011, the museum sent four hapless visitors a bill for the “restoration” of the piece.
