Police have arrested four men in connection with a haul of almost 1,600 kilos of cocaine discovered in two lorries in Gorinchem in Zuid-Holland.

Police located the haul, with a street value of several million euros, on July 8 as a result of a long-running police investigation following the arrest of a 53-year-old Apeldoorn man in Ede in June.

He was found to have 60 kilos of cocaine, local broadcaster Omroep Flevoland reported.

Three of the men, aged 22, 37 and 54 respectively, are from Rotterdam.

Police went on to search a house in Gorinchem and raided business premises at the Oostervaart industrial complex in Lelystad. Police did not say if the searches had yielded any drugs or weapons but did say more arrests may follow.
