Tax investigators raid Netflix Amsterdam office in French probe
Netflix’s European headquarters in Amsterdam were raided on Tuesday in connection with a French-led investigation into tax fraud dating back several years.
News agency Reuters said the company’s offices in Paris were also searched by officials and that the investigation has been underway since November 2022. The French and Dutch authorities have been working together on the investigation for some time, Reuters said.
The Amsterdam raid was at the request of the French PNF, a special financial crime prosecution unit that is “notorious for pursuing high-stakes white-collar probes”, Reuters said.
In 2022 Netflix reached an out-of-court settlement with the Italian public prosecution department, and paid €55.8 million to settle a tax claim.
