Dutch bike maker VanMoof is selling electric bikes via its website again following its takeover by Lavoie last year. Lavoie produces electric scooters and is part of the McLaren Applied empire.

Customers have a choice of two e-bikes and joint chief executive Eliott Wertheimer told MRSprout in an interview that both types have been rebuilt from the bottom up. And, he said, he recognised that the coming years will be all about winning back trust.

The company has also focused on reorganising its operations. This has included scrapping its in-house repair service and developing a network of independent repair firms in seven countries.

VanMoof, known for its sleek bikes with inbuilt tracking systems, went bust last year after failing to find new money. The company posted a loss of almost €80 million in 2021 and has never made a profit.
