Revenge porn images of 400 Dutch girls swapped ‘like Pokémon cards’ online: RTL investigation

More than 400 Dutch girls are victims of revenge porn posted online, according to an undercover investigation by RTL Nieuws on Friday.

It claims that it has evidence that more than 2,000 boys are sharing images of the young women, without their consent, in a closed network.

‘More than 30,000 images and videos are sorted under name and town, with links to the victims’ social media profiles,’ it writes. ‘In a chatroom, naked photos of women that are called “wins” by the boys are named and exchanged like a huge collection of Pokémon cards. On request, girls are hacked to steal explicit photos and videos.’

It claims that more than 400 Dutch girls are victim to this, many of them under age, and the images are shared on the New Zealand-based cloud server Mega on a chat site called Discord.

Belgian VTM news has seen the images and believes that some 5,000 are of Belgian women. Belgian police, it reports, have launched an investigation.

Dutch justice minister Ferdinand Grapperhaus has said that he wants more to be done about revenge porn and plans to raise the subject in parliament.

According to broadcaster NOS, Dutch police have not launched an investigation into the current reports, but urges women who believe they have been victims to make an official report.
