A man has been arrested on suspicion of shooting an Amsterdam DJ who police believe was the victim of mistaken identity.

Djordy Latumahina, 31, was killed last October as he parked his Mini in the basement of the apartment block where he lived in the capital’s Nieuw West district. Police say the intended target was a drug dealer who lived in the same block, owned a similar car and has since gone into hiding abroad.

The arrest comes two weeks after TV crime show Opsporing Verzocht showed pictures of the two suspected shooters. One of them, named as Djurgen W., had already been arrested in June, but the other was still at large. He was described as a tall blond man from the Amsterdam area.

Latumahina’s two-year-old daughter narrowly avoided being shot in the incident, while his girlfriend survived despite being seriously wounded.

In total six people have been arrested in connection with the DJ’s death. Two car thieves are suspected of arranging to steal the getaway vehicle which was found burned out near the scene, while a third is accused of being the driver. Another man is believed to have masterminded the operation with the help of his brother.

They are due to appear in court on Tuesday for a procedural hearing prior to a full trial which is expected to take place in March next year.
