The number of claims for water damage to houses and contents has reached a record, insurance assessor site Independer told the AD. There have been more claims in the seven months so far this year than in the whole of 2011, says the site.
Consequently, premiums on house and content policies will have to rise by at least €20, according to Independer.
Insurance company ASR says the rise is ‘unavoidable’. ‘This is not just an incident but the result of climate change,’ a spokesman told the AD.
