Europe’s last cathode ray-maker closes down
The last cathode ray tube company in Europe, Heerleen-based Cathode Ray Technology, is closing down, local broadcaster L1 reports.
Demand for the tubes, used in old-fashioned televisions, has plummeted since the arrival of LCD and plasma screens. The plant, which had a workforce of 120 at its height, currently employs just 12.
