Food in the Netherlands is easily available, affordable and of good quality, placing the country in fifth place on a new ranking of ‘food security’.

The new global food security index was put together by the Economist Intelligence Unit, which researched the situation in 105 countries. They looked at the availability of sufficient and nutricious food necessary for a healthy and active life.
Only the US, Denmark, Norway and France do better than the Netherlands, the survey found.
The only negative point about food in the Netherlands and many other rich countries is a deficit in iron, the report says.
Bottom of the list is the Democratic Republic of Congo.
