Liberation Day festivities in Apeldoorn cancelled over safety fears
Apeldoorn city council has withdrawn the licence for this year’s Liberation Day festivities because crowd security cannot be guaranteed.
The security company that had been contracted to police the event pulled out on Wednesday and there is not enough time to organise a new security firm, the council said.
The festival programme included old favourites such as Kayak and Gruppo Sportivo and rapper Brainbox.
The Apeldoorn event is not part of the 14 traditional Liberation Day festivals which take place on May 5 but an independent event.
