IT, football and money trade dominate Dutch self-made rich list
This year’s Quote magazine self-made rich list featuring young millionaires is dominated by IT, football and money traders but together, the top 100 are €500m worse-off.
Together, the Netherlands’ young millionaires have assets totalling €1.6bn, compared with over €2bn last year.
Top of the list remains New York based investor David Slager, who manages the Atticus Capital hedge fund and has assets of €150m, Quote says. Last year’s number two and three, television maker Reinout Oerlemans and trader Roger Hodenius, are out of the list because they are over the age of 40.
Footballers
Ruud van Nistelrooij is the highest placed footballer, worth some €50m while Clarence Seedorf is 6th and Arjan Robben 11th.
The lowest ranked millionaires are in the list with assets of around €5m. Last year the cut off was €7m.
‘What stands out is the number of IT people on the list,’ Quote editor Mirjam van den Broeke told BNR radio. ‘Websites do very well. Take a site like thuisbezorgd.nl (home delivery.nl). If you can give a high tech flavour to something that has been around for a long time, you can make the list.’
