An Enschede shopping centre is the Netherlands ugliest place
A run-down shopping centre in Enschede has been voted ugliest place in the Netherlands by viewers of television show De Slag om Nederland.
The Stokhorst shopping centre – known locally as ‘The Bronx’ – has been on the redevelopment list for six years. Project developer Gerard Assen blames the delay on the economic crisis and slow city council procedures.
Second on the list was the Brinkmann retail passage in the heart of historic Haarlem which has been almost empty for years. The area around Zoetermeer railway station was third.
