State internet security at risk 14 times since 2009: report
Dutch government internet security has been at risk 14 times since 2009, according to information on internet security incidents gathered from government cyber security experts.
The list of incidents was obtained by IT journalist Brenno de Winter using freedom of information legislation. Fourteen items on the list were completely blacked out because they involved government security and could still be current, De Winter said.
The fact the incidents have been blacked out shows they are ‘extremely sensitive’ and fall under the responsibility of the security services, De Winter told RTL news.
MPs have demanded an explanation.
Government IT experts are still dealing with the fall out from the Diginotar hacking scandal which led to hundreds of website security certificates being compromised.
