Yugoslavia tribunal’s final wanted man arrives in the Netherlands

Balkan war crimes suspect Goran Hadzic has arrived in the Netherlands, where he will be held in the Scheveningen high security prison before appearing before the UN tribunal in The Hague.

A small plane carrying the former Croatian Serb leader arrived at Rotterdam airport at around 14.30 hours.
Hadzic is the last person on the Yugoslavia tribunal’s wanted list. He was arrested in Serbia on Wednesday after seven years on the run.
Hadzic faces 14 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity following his involvement in atrocities committed by Serb troops in Croatia. He was in charge of Croatian Serb separatist forces.
The arrest comes less than two months after Serbia caught former Bosnian Serb military commander Ratko Mladic. He is now on trial in The Hague.
