Some 11,800 tips were made to the anonymous crime hot line M last year, resulting in 1,250 arrests and 830 cases being solved, according to the M foundation’s annual report, quoted in the Telegraaf.

Among the crimes which the tips helped solve were the kidnapping and rape of a 13-year-old girl, a car fire in Apeldoorn and an armed robbery on an elderly women. Some 350,000 marijuana plants were also confiscated following anonymous reports, up 40% on 2009.
