Leeuwarden has the country’s nicest shopping street

The Kleine Kerkstraat in Leeuwarden is the nicest shopping street in the Netherlands, according to the 30,000 people taking part in an online vote. Second was the Haarlemmerstraat in Amsterdam.

The vote is held annually by the site NLstreets which campaigns against the lack of variety in many shopping streets. Most of the 70 streets that took part are full of small independent retailers rather than nationwide chains.
