The Swedish furniture chain Ikea has the best customer service in the country for the second year running, according to research by Groningen University.
Insurance group Univé, Shell, Albert Heijn supermarkets, Air France-KLM, Landal Greenparks and Tele2 were also recognised for their good public relations in the annual Customer Performance Awards.
Train company NS and regional train and bus firms Arriva and Connexxion were among the worst performers, Nos television said in its report of the event.
‘Consumers are demanding value for money,’ professor Peter Verhoef told Nos television.
Verhoef warned firms to take customer service seriously and make proper offers of compensation. Criticism spreads very quickly via social networking sites, he pointed out.
Some 7,000 consumers were polled for the research.
