Heineken earnings rise, Mexican beer is a boost

Brewing group Heineken booked a sharp rise in earnings in 2010, propelled by its purchase of Femsa’s Mexican beer activities.

In total, Heineken sold nearly 146 million hectolitres of beer last year and turnover rose almost 10% to €16bn.
Net profit reached just under €1.5bn, up 35% on a year ago. Excluding acquisitions, net profit rose nearly 20%.
The company has now generated double-digit organic net profit growth for the fifth consecutive year, CEO Jean François van Boxmeer said in a statement.
