Cup and saucer reunited

An 18th century cup made in the porcelain factory in Weesp has been reunited with its saucer after 49 years.

The Gemeentemuseum in Weesp recently bought the cup at auction in London and has now discovered its saucer in the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum’s collection. The Amsterdam museum bought the saucer in 1962.
The cup is a ‘unique piece of Weesp porcelain’, says a museum spokesman. It is now on display with its saucer, which is on loan from the Rijksmuseum.
