Tourist numbers reach 2007’s record level
Eleven million tourists visited the Netherlands in 2010, the same as the record level in 2007. That is one million more than in 2009, according to figures from the Dutch tourist board.
The improvement was a result of the revival of the world economy, according to director Jos Vranken. He expects a further slight increase in 2011.
The number of Dutch people who took their holidays in the Netherlands dropped slightly, says the tourist board. In total, there were 17.7 million home vacations, 250,000 fewer than in 2009.
