‘PSV Eindhoven faces financial trouble’
Eindhoven football club PSV may be facing ‘acute financial difficulty’, the NRC reports on Tuesday.
Without new deals with its banks and sponsors, the club ‘may not be able to meet all its obligations’, the paper says, quoting from Feyenoord’s annual report.
‘We are not worried that the club may not survive but it is clear things cannot go on as they are,’ the club told the paper in a statement. ‘The directors are currently in negotiations with a number of groups, including main sponsor Philips, where the contract is expiring.’
PSV, current league leaders, made a loss of €17.5m last year. Amsterdam’s Ajax lost €22.8m.
