Parliament to take speedy decision on new Afghan mission
Parliament is to discuss the cabinet’s plans to send a new mission to Afghanistan with experts in two weeks’ time and hopes to have taken a decision before the winter break which starts on February 18, news agency ANP reports.
Last Friday, the cabinet said it had agreed to send a 545-strong team to northern Afghanistan to help train local police officers.
The government’s economic alliance partner PVV, Labour and the Socialist Party have already said they oppose the plan.
