No evictions for asylum seeker families
The Netherlands will temporarily halt evicting families with young children from asylum centres, even if they have exhausted the appeal system, immigration minister Gerd Leers said on Tuesday, Nos tv reports.
The decision follows attempts by an asylum centre in Ter Apel to separate an Angolan family by evicting the mother and putting her three children into care.
The appeal court in The Hague ruled separating the family broke European rules.
Leers said he is considering an appeal against the ruling and stressed that the family must leave the Netherlands.
