Government alliance does well in poll
The minority government of right-wing Liberals and Christian Democrats and supported by the populist PVV would win 81 seats if a national election was held now, according to the latest political barometer by pollsters Synovate.
The total is up from the 76 seats the alliance currently holds and would give it a majority in parliament.
The result comes just six weeks before the provincial elections on March 2. That vote is crucial for the coalition, which hopes to win a majority in the senate.
The poll shows that the VVD Liberals would increase their seats by five and the anti-Islam PVV by four. The Christian Democrats, however, would suffer a loss of four seats.
