Former premier Balkenende joins Ernst&Young

Former prime minister Jan Peter Balkenende is to become a partner with accountants group Ernst & Young, the company said on Monday.

Balkenende will draw on his ‘extensive global experience to provide international advice’ to clients. In addition, he will play a ‘leading role’ in the company’s corporate responsibility initiatives and work with clients who are ‘active at the interface between the public and private sectors’, Ernst&Young said in a statement.
Balkenende is the second member of the previous cabinet to join the consultancy sector with a focus on the public sector.
Former deputy prime minister and Labour leader Wouter Bos is now a partner with KPMG and heads the consultancy group’s public sector and health service division.
