Emergency dam parts ‘stolen by copper thieves’

Thieves appear to have stolen a number of locking pins from a temporary dam erected near Venlo to keep back flood water from the river Maas, news agency Novum reports.

The missing pins were discovered during an inspection round on Monday morning.
Novum says the thieves probably thought the pins were made of copper because of their colour but in fact they are made of steel.
