Cutbacks will hurt state-run job centres

Government cutbacks risk turning the state job centres UWV into benefit processing agencies, chairman Joop Linthorst is quoted as saying by Nos television.

The government is slashing the UWV budget by €600m by 2015, and that means a large number of offices where people can be helped to find work will close their doors, Linthorst said in his New Year speech.
Last year, the UWV helped 300,000 people find a job, he said.
