2,200 ABN Amro and Fortis jobs gone so far

The merger of the ABN Amro and Fortis banking groups has so far cost 2,200 jobs, CEO Gerrit Zalm said at a New Year reception on Tuesday.

Most of the workers to lose their jobs so far worked at individual bank branches, the Parool reports.
In total, the merger is expected to lead to 6,000 job losses. The focus now will be on merging support services and IT, the paper said.
