Prosecution department claws back €55m in criminal earnings
The public prosecution department clawed back €55m from convicted criminals this year and has €700m in outstanding claims, department head Harm Brouwer is quoted as saying by news agency ANP.
From next year, Brouwer has set a target of €100m a year. This is only a fraction of the amount of criminal cash in circulation, he said.
‘We think every year some €18bn is laundered and €3bn earned through fraud,’ he said.
