Prince Willem-Alexander and princess Máxima carried out around 160 public appearances between them this year, well up on last year’s total, news agency ANP reports.

Willem-Alexander was out and about on official business over 70 times, compared with 40 in 2009. Máxima carried out almost 90 official engagements, up from 60 a year ago.
The prince made 16 foreign trips and the princess 19 – largely due to her work for the UN.
Queen Beatrix had 70 public engagements away from home this year, down slightly on the 2009 total.
