Four day postal strike looms ahead of Christmas

With postal delivery workers poised to start another 24-hour strike from 23.00 hours on Tuesday, the chance is growing of a four-day strike next week, according to news agency reports.

Tonight’s strike will be the seventh by unions protesting at TNT’s plans to sack 2,800 delivery workers.
A spokesman for the FNV postal workers union told news agency ANP a four-day strike to hit the Christmas post is being discussed.
ANP says both the FNV and TNT are waiting for an invitation to talks in an effort to head off further strikes. Neither side so far has made the first move.
