Dutch anti-piracy group closes US fileshare sites

Dutch anti-internet piracy group Brein and the US Motion Picture Association have successfully seized the domain names of 29 US-based websites that allow file sharing, Brein said on Wednesday.

The sites are focused on the Netherlands and facilitate the illegal sharing of films, tv series, music, games and digital books, Brein said.
‘This year we have made some 600 of these sites inaccessible,’ foundation director Tim Kuik said. ‘These 29 thought they could carry on undisturbed because they are in America. But that is incorrect.’
Brein is now working to find the names and contact details of people behind the sites so they can be held responsible.
