Tax office wants easier tax collection
Tax collection should be made easier so that it can be done with fewer staff and lower costs but with the same efficiency, according to a source in Monday’s Telegraaf, quoting tax office director-general Peter Veld.
The tax office has to save €400m over the coming four years and junior finance minister Frans Weekers wants it to draw up plans on how to achieve this.
Parliament is discussing the 2011 tax plan on Monday afternoon and evening, when the liberal D66 will suggest scrapping the deduction of interest for companies and using that money for a lower tax on profits.
According to D66, this would reduce risks in the economy, provide an extra stimulation to make profits and discourage debt.
