Research jobs at the country’s top institutes are safe next year but redundancies may be inevitable thereafter, economic affairs minister Maxime Verhagen told MPs on Wednesday, news agency ANP reports.

Earlier this week, a number of research institute directors wrote to the minister, saying they feared 1,500 jobs may go because of government cutbacks in funding.
