No tolls on existing roads, says minister
The government will not introduce any ‘tolls on existing roads,’ transport minister Melanie Schultz van Haegen said on Monday, following reports that parts of the A27 and A15 may become toll roads.
‘Motorists pay enough tax to be able to drive on our roads,’ the minister said. ‘Tolls can only be applied to special, extra roads.’
The transport ministry is considering turning part of the A27 between Breda and Utrecht into a double-decker motorway in an effort to ease congestion.
