No change on maternity leave, dads may get more
The government has no plans to increase paid maternity leave of 16 weeks in line with European parliament plans, social affairs minister Henk Kamp has told MPs.
The European parliament wants to increase the statutory minimum leave to 20 weeks.
The minister said 16 weeks is enough time off in most cases and that new mothers who need more can arrange this via the sick pay system.
However, the government is likely to increase the period of leave for new fathers from two to five days, Nos tv reports.
