Low-skilled spend more time online than graduates

For the first time, low-skilled people in the Netherlands spent more time online than people with college education, according to researchers at Twente University.

On average they spend three hours, four minutes on the internet every day, some 30 minutes longer than people with higher education.
The low skilled spend more time on ‘time wasting activities’ like chatting, gaming and watching YouTube, the researchers said. People with higher levels of education are more likely to use the internet as a source of information.
Checking email is the most popular activity, followed by searching the internet and online banking.
Some 93% of households have internet access, but 44% of the over 65s have never used internet. Some 5% of those questioned for the research say they have no intention of doing so.
