Government reduces hospital budget cuts after recalculations

The Hague appeal court had ordered the government to provide better figures to back up its claims of a €549m overspend, resulting in the lower figure.
A spokesman for the national hospitals association, which opposes any cuts, said it is still unclear how the new figure has been arrived at. The association believes that insurers are responsible if hospitals have overspent their budgets.
According to the NRC, the new figure represents between 2% and 3% of a hospital’s turnover.
