Congo wins AKO book prize

Belgian writer David van Reybrouck has won this year’s AKO literature prize for his book Congo, a history of the African country between 1850 and 2010.


The jury described the book as a ‘cleverly-written story about exploitation, slavery, colonialism, terror, strength and survival.’
Van Reybrouck wins €50,000. Congo already took the Libris history prize.
