85-year-old exhumed in connection with 1998 child murder
The body of an 85-year-old man has been exhumed for dna tests in connection with the murder of 10-year-old Nicky Verstappen in 1998.
Nicky was taken from his tent while at summer camp. His body was found later but his killer has never been identified.
The public prosecution department said it wanted to compare the dna of Joos B, who died in 2003, with trace evidence found on Verstappen’s body. B, who worked at the camp, was 80 when the boy vanished and was questioned several times during the investigation.
A recent book on the case suggests B had a history of abusing young boys and lost his job as a school headmaster because of it.
