TV antiques show finds ‘most expensive painting yet’
A painting by 17th century painter and writer Joost van Geel is set to become the most expensive find ever by tv antiques show Tussen Kunst en Kitsch.
The painting, named The Lacemaker, features a well-dressed woman making lace and is ‘in the premier league of Dutch art’, according to tv expert John Hoosteder.
The family who own the painting inherited it in 1930. Broadcaster Avro is keeping quiet about the value, but will says the work is worth more than €100,000. The show featuring the painting will be transmitted in February.
