Tilburg agrees to subsidise football club social activities

Tilburg city council has agreed to subsidise local premier division football club Willem II to the tune of €1.2m over five years, the Telegraaf reports.

The money is to be spent on social activities such as organising visits by top players to hospitals and improving stadium facilities for visiting school children.
Earlier this year, the city council lowered the rent on the club’s stadium to help it avoid going bankrupt.
