Rental housing is becoming increasingly popular with households with an average income – around €45,000 a year, according to research by project developer association NVB.


Two years ago, just 12% of average earners wanted to live in rental accommodation, but that has now risen to 24%, the NVB said.
The increase is partly due to uncertainty about the continuation of mortgage tax relief, the organisation said.
The probable new government is not planning to make any changes to the tax break for home owners, which is among the most generous in Europe.
