The Dutch competition authority is to launch an investigation into the market for secondary school books, a spokesman said on Wednesday.


In 2008, schools rather than parents were given responsibility for buying school books in the hope that prices would come down. The bill to parents had been upwards of €400 a year.
The market for secondary school books was put at €285m in 2009.
