At least one person missing after cargo ship rams tiny ferry

Divers are searching for an unknown number of people tipped into the water when a tiny ferry which takes commuters and their bikes over the Amsterdam Rhine canal was hit by a German cargo ship early on Friday morning.

Shipping has been halted as the search continues. Police are hoping eyewitnesses waiting on the other side of the canal have more information about how many people were on board.
According to the Telegraaf, the captain of the ferry is among the missing. Police said ‘a small number’ of other people may have ended up in the water. No-one has yet been found.
The accident took place at the Breukelen crossing just north of Utrecht. Eyewitnesses told Nos tv the ferry is upside down in the water and the ship is moored nearby.
